Who runs this site
Test Aptitude is a free online aptitude test published at test-aptitude.com. The operator of the site is responsible for your information, and the quickest way to reach them is by email at [email protected]. For the purposes of the GDPR and similar laws, that operator is the data controller.
Information we collect
Test Aptitude has no registration, no logins and no paid plans, so there is no account data to collect. The tool's code runs in your browser, so the values you type into the aptitude test stay on your device. The only information collected is technical, coming from server logs, analytics and advertising, and each kind is explained below.
Your inputs and your device
To save you retyping, the aptitude test keeps some of your entries in your browser's local storage. Local storage is not transmitted with page requests, so the saved data never reaches our server. Clearing cookies and site data for test-aptitude.com removes it completely.
Cookies and tracking technologies
Cookies are small text files that a website, or a service embedded in it, saves in your browser; pixels and browser storage work in a similar way. The tool works without cookies of its own; those that appear are set by the analytics and advertising partners listed below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the aptitude test will keep working, although ads may become less relevant.
Analytics
Use of test-aptitude.com is measured with Yandex Metrica and Microsoft Clarity. Typical data points are the pages you open, the time spent on them, where you came from, your browser and device, and a rough location. Both offer session replay and heatmaps, which record clicks, scrolling and mouse movement so we can see where the layout confuses people. They set their own cookies, and Yandex and Microsoft handle the data under their own privacy statements. We review the reports to improve pages and do not try to work out who individual visitors are.
Server logs
Standard web server logs are kept for test-aptitude.com. These logs hold the IP address, user agent string, time of access and the address of the page requested. They help us block abuse, fix problems and count traffic.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising, which keeps the aptitude test free. These ads come from third-party networks, which may set cookies and read device information such as your IP address and browser type to pick ads and measure results.
Where allowed, ads may be personalised using information about your visits to this and other websites. The networks act under their own privacy policies, and we do not pass them your tool inputs. Industry opt-out pages such as optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu let you turn off interest-based ads from participating networks.
Our legal bases
For visitors in the EEA and the UK, the legal bases are:
- Consent for non-essential analytics and advertising cookies where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests for server logs, security and general usage statistics, where your rights do not override them.
- Providing the service you ask for, which covers the local storage that remembers your entries.
- Handling your messages: when you email us, we use your message to answer it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or erase the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Because we hold very little data and no accounts, we may need details such as your IP address and the approximate time of your visit to find anything relating to you. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the supervisory authority in your country. Write to [email protected] to make a request.
Retention
Information is kept only while it serves its purpose; server logs are rotated out after a limited period unless they are needed to investigate misuse. Local storage keeps your entries until you clear the site's data. Analytics and advertising providers keep data according to their own retention schedules. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up.
Processing outside your country
The services we use, including hosting, analytics and advertising providers, may process data in countries other than your own. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.
Notice for California residents
Under California law (the CCPA as amended by the CPRA), you may request to know and to delete or correct personal information about you, and you may opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information in the everyday meaning of the word; no list of visitors is ever traded. Advertising cookies, though, can amount to “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising as California law defines it.
To opt out, enable Global Privacy Control in a browser that supports it, block third-party cookies in your browser settings, or email us. You will not be discriminated against for exercising any of them.
Children
test-aptitude.com is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where European rules apply. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Parents or guardians who think a child has contacted us can ask us to delete that information.
Security measures
Connections to test-aptitude.com use HTTPS encryption. Only those who run the site can access the server and its logs. No system is perfectly secure; still, your tool inputs stay on your device.
Changes
We update this page when our practices change, such as when a new service is added. Whatever appears here is the policy that applies.
